Product Information

DUTASMART 0.5 mg Tablet is used for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It works by shrinking the enlarged prostate gland, which helps relieve symptoms such as difficulty passing urine, weak urine flow, frequent or urgent urination, and pain or discomfort.

The medicine can be taken with or without food, once daily as prescribed. It should be swallowed whole and taken at the same time each day. Do not crush or chew the tablet. Regular use is important, and it may take several weeks or months before full benefits are noticeable.

⚠️ Pregnancy Exposure Warning

Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant must not handle DUTASMART tablets, especially if broken or crushed.

Dutasteride can be absorbed through the skin and may cause serious harm to a developing male fetus (risk of abnormalities in male genital development).

If contact occurs, wash the affected area immediately with soap and water.

Special Precautions

Before starting DUTASMART (Dutasteride):

  • Inform your doctor about all other medicines you are taking.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver disease or any other medical conditions.
  • This medicine is not for use in women or children.
  • Men taking dutasteride should avoid donating blood for 6 months after the last dose.

Possible Side Effects

Most side effects are mild and may improve as your body adjusts to treatment. Seek medical advice if they persist or worsen.

Common side effects:

  • Decreased sperm count
  • Impotence (trouble getting or maintaining an erection)
  • Decreased libido (reduced sexual drive)
  • Ejaculation disorder
  • Breast enlargement in males
  • Breast tenderness in males

Allergic reactions (rare):

  • Rash, itching, or swelling of lips/face — consult a doctor immediately if these occur.

  • Store at room temperature, away from moisture, heat, and light.
  • Keep tablets in the original packaging, tightly closed.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Dispose of unused tablets safely; consult your pharmacist for disposal methods.

Emergency Guidance

  • In case of overdose, seek immediate medical attention or contact a poison control center.
  • If you experience severe allergic reactions such as difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, or chest tightness, call emergency services immediately.
