Cyflox 500 Tablet is an antibiotic used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It is effective against infections of the urinary tract, nose, throat, skin, soft tissues, and lungs (including pneumonia). It works by killing bacteria and stopping their growth.

Cyflox should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor, in the correct dose and duration. It can be taken with or without food, ideally at the same time each day. Do not skip doses and always complete the full course, even if you start to feel better, to ensure that all bacteria are eliminated and to prevent antibiotic resistance.

⚠️ Tendon & Nerve Risk Warning
Ciprofloxacin and other fluoroquinolones may increase the risk of tendon damage (including rupture, particularly the Achilles tendon) and nerve problems (peripheral neuropathy).

  • Stop the medicine immediately if you develop tendon pain, swelling, or weakness.
  • Stop the medicine if you experience tingling, numbness, burning, or nerve pain.
  • Seek urgent medical advice if these occur.

Special Precautions

  • Do not take if you are allergic to ciprofloxacin or other fluoroquinolones.
  • Use with caution if you have kidney problems; dosage may need adjustment.
  • Rare but serious allergic reactions can occur—seek immediate medical help if you develop rash, swelling of lips/tongue/face, or difficulty breathing.
  • Inform your doctor if you have:
    • Seizure disorders
    • Tendon problems or history of tendon rupture
    • Nerve problems (neuropathy)
  • Avoid excessive sunlight or tanning beds while on this medicine; it may increase sensitivity to sunlight.
  • Not recommended during pregnancy unless clearly needed; consult your doctor.
  • Breastfeeding mothers should discuss risks and benefits with their doctor.

Possible Side Effects

Most side effects are mild and temporary. Contact your doctor if persistent or severe.

Rare but serious side effects (seek urgent medical help):

  • Severe diarrhea with blood in stools (sign of Clostridium difficile infection)

  • Severe reaction: If you develop sudden allergic symptoms, tendon pain, or bloody diarrhea, stop the medicine and seek urgent medical help.
