Cremagel is used for the treatment of anal fissures (small tears in the lining of the anus). It promotes healing and relieves pain by relaxing the anal sphincter and increasing blood flow to the affected area.
This medicine is for external use only. Apply it exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Clean and dry the affected area before application.
The most common side effects include burning, irritation, itching, redness at the site of application, dizziness, headache, and occasionally rectal bleeding. Most reactions are mild and temporary.

Diltiazem (the active ingredient) is also used in oral tablet form for hypertension, angina, and arrhythmias. However, Cremagel is intended only for rectal/anal application and not for systemic cardiovascular use.
