Antiplatelet / Blood Thinner

Product Information

CLAVIX 75 mg Tablet is prescribed to reduce the risk of serious heart and blood vessel problems in people at high risk of cardiovascular disease. It is commonly given to individuals with peripheral vascular disease (poor circulation due to narrowed blood vessels), a recent heart attack or stroke, or irregular heart rhythms. It is also prescribed after certain heart procedures such as stenting.

CLAVIX may also be used in combination with other medicines to manage heart attack and unstable angina (heart-related chest pain).

This medicine may be taken with or without food. It should be taken at the same time each day. Continue taking it even if you feel well, as stopping suddenly may increase the risk of heart attack or stroke.

Why is this Medication Prescribed?

CLAVIX is prescribed to prevent blood clots, reduce the risk of stroke, and lower the chance of heart attacks in people with cardiovascular disease or after certain heart procedures.

Uses

  • Prevention of heart attack and stroke
  • Treatment after stent placement or heart surgery (as advised by doctor)
  • Management of peripheral vascular disease
  • Used with other medicines in unstable angina or heart attack

Benefits

  • Reduces the risk of dangerous blood clots
  • Lowers the chance of heart attack, stroke, or other serious cardiovascular events
  • Helps keep blood flowing smoothly in people with narrowed or damaged blood vessels
  • Provides long-term protection in heart disease patients

How Should this Medicine be Used?

  • Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily
  • Can be taken with or without food
  • Take at the same time each day
  • Do not stop taking without consulting your doctor
  • Inform your doctor before surgery or dental procedures, as CLAVIX may need to be stopped temporarily

Other Uses

Doctors may sometimes prescribe CLAVIX for other clot-prevention needs based on individual risk factors.

⚠️ Bleeding Risk Warning
This medicine increases your risk of bleeding. Report unusual bruising, nosebleeds, blood in urine or stool, or prolonged bleeding to your doctor immediately. Seek emergency help for uncontrolled or severe bleeding.

Special Precautions

  • Do not take if you currently have bleeding (e.g., stomach ulcer, bleeding in the brain) or severe liver disease
  • Inform your doctor if you have a history of blood clotting problems, recent injury, or recent surgery
  • Stop use and consult your doctor immediately if you develop unexplained bleeding or black/tarry stools
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women should only use after medical advice
  • Inform your doctor and dentist before any planned surgery or dental procedure

Dual Therapy Note

Many patients are prescribed CLAVIX together with low-dose aspirin after a heart attack, stent placement, or certain heart surgeries. This is called dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT).

  • The combination reduces the risk of dangerous blood clots forming in stents or narrowed arteries.
  • Treatment duration may range from a few months to several years, depending on your condition.
  • Never stop either medicine without your doctor’s advice, as this may increase your risk of heart attack or stroke.
