Oral Antidiabetic (DPP-4 Inhibitor + Biguanide Combination)

Product Information

VILDASMART contains Vildagliptin (a DPP-4 inhibitor) and Metformin (a biguanide). It is an oral antidiabetic medicine used to improve blood glucose control in adults with type 2 diabetes when diet and exercise alone are insufficient.

  • Vildagliptin increases insulin release and reduces glucagon secretion from the pancreas.
  • Metformin decreases glucose production in the liver, reduces intestinal glucose absorption, and enhances insulin sensitivity by increasing glucose uptake and utilization.
  • Together, they provide complementary control of blood sugar levels.

VILDASMART is available in the strength 50 mg + 500 mg tablets.

Why is this Medication Prescribed?

VILDASMART is prescribed for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients whose blood glucose cannot be adequately controlled with lifestyle changes alone. It helps reduce the risk of long-term complications of diabetes, including heart disease, kidney disease, and nerve damage.

Uses

  • Type 2 diabetes mellitus (when diet and exercise alone are not enough)
  • Combination therapy to improve overall glycemic control

Benefits

  • Dual action for better glucose control:
    • Vildagliptin: enhances insulin secretion and suppresses glucagon release
    • Metformin: lowers liver glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity
  • Helps reduce fasting and post-meal blood sugar levels
  • May lower risk of hypoglycemia compared with some other antidiabetic medicines
  • Supports long-term diabetes management

How Should this Medicine be Used?

  • Take VILDASMART by mouth exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
  • Usually taken with meals to reduce stomach upset.
  • Take it at the same time(s) each day for best effect.
  • Do not crush, chew, or break the tablets.
  • Continue taking the medicine even if you feel well, unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Other Uses

Currently, VILDASMART is used only for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
